Ich hab mir vorgenommen, keine neue Wolle mehr zu kaufen bevor die Wollschranktür nicht wieder zugeht. Als erstes gehe ich an den Korb mit den Kleinresten (hier lagere ich alle Garne von denen ich nur bis zu 200 g vorrätig habe).

I decided not to buy any new yarn until my stash is reduced to a level that the door of my wool storage wardrope can be closed again. I started with the basket of yarns where I store all yarns from which I have 200 g or less.

Letztes Wochenende habe ich mich mit meiner Kamera in die Wildnis begeben und Raubtiere fotografiert. Gattung: Felidae, Raubtier (Fleischfresser).

Wie man sieht konnte ich unter Einsatz eines Teleobjektives, Tarnzelt und Tarnklamotten und mit Gefahr für Leib und Leben die Gattung in freier Wildbahn erwischen. Es waren zwei der Raubtiere auf der Pirsch, leider habe ich nur ein Tier erwischen können.

This weekend I took my camera, a telephotolens and went outside to the wilderness. Not fearing for my life, I could get this great photo of a dangereous (for mice) carnivore belonging to the category felidae. I got home safe with this photo of the animal in its natural ambience.

So langsam aber sicher bekomme ich beim Filzen den Bogen raus.

Nur mit dem Fotografieren hab ich momentan ein wenig Probleme. Die Farbe ist ein wenig heller als auf dem Foto.

Von der Größe her bleib ich noch ein Weilchen bei den kleinen Dingen des Lebens

Blue Faced Leicester, selbst gefärbt, anschließend kardiert und nassgefilzt. Zum Schluss mit Perlchen und einem Strassknopf verziert.

felting, felting, felting again and again and again. Yes, I think it gets better from project to project. This time I took selfdyed BFL, carded it and felted it to a mobile phone bag. When finished, I added some embellishment with pearls and a sparkling button.

I’m quite satisfied with it this time.

Hi Dave, I dyed a sockyarn for you. Knitted a fabric on the knitting machine using 2 strands of yarn at a time. Afterwards dyed a colourway and added your name.

If you want to see the colours, please send me your adress per mail so that I can send you the yarn. Please also tell me if you want to knit directly from the fabric to see it in original (you will have to knit 2 socks at the same time) or if you like to have the yarn wrapped or twisted to balls.

This is the photo: (the “E” has the same tone, but different colour of background so it isn’t to be seen in black and white. I swear, there is a “E”.

die hellblau-weißen Socken haben sich zu Klumpfuß-Modellen entwickelt. Ja, klar, ich hatte sowieso schon nur 12 Maschen je Nadel und dachte, das müsste hinkommen. Aaaaaaaaber das wurde vieeeeeeeeeeeeeel zu weit? Sah irgendwie nach Klumpfuß aus. Also hab ich das Teil der großen Ablage (nennt sich auch Mülleimer) anvertraut und nochmal neu gestartet. Mit dünnerem Garn. Handgesponnenes Garn in blau, mit Babycamel drin und außen dunkellila Mohair für die Wärme. Ich hab mich jetzt für richtiges Netzpatent entschieden, weil dann vom Mohair innen im Socken kaum was zu merken ist, es liegt hauptsächlich außen auf und kann so nicht kratzen.

Warm feet for Miriam – next part of the story. The blue/white sock was thrown away when I reached the middle of the foot. This yarn was much too thick for knitting nice socks. It got more and more to look like a socke for an elephant’s feet. Miriam is a slim person with slim feet……….. Ok, once more, taking a new yarn. Handspun blue yarn with baby camel included and dark lilac mohair yarn. I took this pattern because the mohair stays outside and the smooth handspun is inside so that the ready sock will be warm, but will not be itchy.

Filz, Filz, Filz – hier noch ein Schlampertäschchen

und noch eins:

das schwarze Täschchen mag ich sehr gerne und hab es auch liebevoll abgefüttert. Schwarze Filzwolle im Vlies mit Seidenfäden und weißer Australmerino.

I like this black little bag and it got a lining inside. It is made of black and white wool and silk.

Aber ich habe das Stricken noch nicht aufgegeben. Für eine liebe Arbeitskollegin und Freundin (hallo, Miriam, *winkewinke*) versuche ich, warme Füße zu schenken. Sie hat mir in einer sehr schwierigen Situation so sehr geholfen. Obwohl sie schon morgens bei der Arbeit war und das Seminar, das eigentlich ich halten sollte, erst abends von 17:00 – ca. 20:00 Uhr stattfand, ist sie selbstlos für mich eingesprungen. Danke, Miriam. Ich verstricke 100% Alpaka (blau) zusammen mit weißer Wolle mit 80% Angora zu Sofa/Bettsocken. Gut, in Schuhen taugt solche empfindliche Wolle nicht, aber ich kann mir nichts wärmeres vorstellen.

In a very bad situation last week my friend and kolleague Miriam made me the greatest gift I could get from anyone. She worked in the evening for me, holding a workshop that I was supposed to hold, but couldn’t manage because of desperation. One of the last days she mentioned that she always has cold feet and hands in winter in bed. Well, I took 100% alpaka and a wool mix with 80% angora and started to knit bed socks for her.
